Look Inside      Back to Books I was living in Cork City when I wrote Who Will Love Polly Odlum? and this is reflected in the setting of the book but I like to think the themes are universal.   The book centres around a group of four very  different characters: Polly, Michaela, Davy and Colm. Polly is a very innocent student who has fallen in love with a stranger. That stranger is Davy who’s just moved to the city and is trying to escape his awful past. Unaware of Polly, or indeed her feelings for him, Davy is desperately in love with Michaela.  With her husband away a lot, Michaela and Davy strike up a relationship. The reason Colm – that’s Michaela’s husband – is away so much is not because of work but because of his various romantic dalliances.   Sounds complicated? It’s not. I promise.   All you need to think is this: Polly loves Davy, Davy loves Michaela, Michaela loves Colm, and Colm loves X, Y and Z.   But who, you may ask, will love Polly Odlum?
